I always love photographing at The Headlands Center for the Arts. It’s a creative space and attracts creative couples. Gena and Justin were such a perfect pair and their creativity came out not only in their choice of such an original venue, in their clothing and in their wedding style overall, but also in their dancing. These two can DANCE! In fact it’s how they met. Justin was on the bus home from work but despite feeling exhausted he found himself getting off two stops early his feet leading him to a local swing dance club. You know what happens next. There was a girl on the floor that night and well…here they are!
Since dance was important to them, they incorporated a lesson for their guests during cocktail hour, had one of the best first dances I’ve ever seen and then to further demonstrate his creativity, Justin (backed by the band with whom he secretly rehearsed) sang a song he wrote for his bride. Yowsa. This was a fun one to shoot! Despite the fog and chill in the air, they were willing to do the loop road in the Marin Headlands for our photo shoot AND a second photo shoot in a new dancing dress for the bride after their first dance. I was happy to work again with the super-talented Lisa McNichol of Riley Loves Lulu who coordinated and styled the event, Katie Powers who is the exclusive caterer for HCA and Milkweed Studios who stunningly put together the florals. Cake Coquette did the gorgeous cake and The Klipptones had everyone on the floor dancing! What a fun and gorgeous wedding indeed! Congrats to Gena and Justin!
