Asian Art Museum San Francisco Wedding - Sara and Jeremy

I loved shooting at the Asian Art Museum! What a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding. The building originated as the San Francisco Public Library so it's one of those classic old buildings with lots of style and great architecture.

Sara and Jeremy were incredibly sweet together and soooo excited to celebrate with their family and friends. Elizabeth Bainbridge of 2 the 9s Events helped them plan a STUNNER of a wedding. I'm sure their guests were floored as they walked up the grand staircase into Samsung Hall for the ceremony. McCalls Catering and Events  did an amazing job with the flowers and food. When the room turned for dinner, the lovely soft lighting complimented the oh so gorgeous and yummy food.

Sara's Alvina Valenta gown with full tulle skirt was a stunner in the space too and Christina Chin of Makeup by Quis did an impeccable job with her hair and makeup. She was so animated too and was a blast to photograph. I think it shows in the pictures that you can have a STUNNINGLY gorgeous wedding AND have fun on your day too!

Congratulations Sara and Jeremy!

Fairmont San Francisco Wedding: Christina and Hans

Such a classic San Francisco wedding was Christina and Hans'! I hadn't been to St. Dominic's church in San Francisco in a very long time and it was great to be back. It's such a gorgeous church and YOWSA! That veil of Christina's was a stunner for a classic SF cathedral wedding. So lovely!

Christina was not only lovely to look at, but a lovely personality too as was her new hubby Hans. We hit it off from the second we met. I walked home from my meeting with them and told my husband I hoped to shoot the wedding I liked them so much. So sweet and down to earth and I always love shooting classic weddings so it was a big treat when they decided to move forward.

I wasn't disappointed. They stayed true to their lovely spirits on the wedding day and their friends and family were fabulous as well. Christina was absolutely stunning in her Enzoani gown. I couldn't stop taking pictures of her. Hans looked proud and completely in love when he saw is bride walk down the aisle. Such a sweet moment. After the church ceremony we went with the bridal party to the little park on top of Nob Hill and despite the rare 80 degree day, we found a shady spot to do their bridal party photos and then off to the Fairmont Crown Room for the festivities!

The Crown Room looked terrific and all pulled together by the Dreams on a Dime team. I loved the cascading wall of flowers behind the head table too. Laura Auyeung of Poppy Petalworks rocked the florals! Christina's mother made the favors which was such a personal touch.

I just loved this couple and am so happy they are so happy with their photos. We had a blast and well, quite frankly, I couldn't go wrong! Congrats Christina and Hans!

The University Club Wedding, San Francisco - Susan and Michael!

Another fabulous (and intimate) San Francisco wedding! Susan is from the midwest (as am I) so I had a blast photographing her and her family and hearing that familiar midwest accent all day!

I had never photographed at the University Club (kept getting it mixed up with the Commonwealth Club!). Loved this club almost at the top of Nob Hill right down the hill from The Fairmont. The ceremony and reception were in the same room and the room was classic San Francisco. The views were so pretty and we were able to do our photo session at the park on top of Nob Hill, so got a little bit of nature and green in with our city venue shots. Also loved the classic old school bar in this venue.

I loved Susan's hair done by Julianne Chai of Prettyologie. As she said, she wanted is "shellacked" to her head which I thought was hilarious. Indeed it was a gorgeous slick low bun which was stunning with her classic lace Allure gown. She looked great and Michael couldn't stop beaming the whole day when he looked at her!

Elizabeth Bainbridge of 2the9s Events did a fabby job doing the day of coordinating and The University Club food was terrific! Just look at that sushi! The florals by Red Sparrow Floral Design were simple and elegant and fit right in with the sophisticated urban style of this wedding.

Stunning and simple intimate wedding. So much fun to photograph. Congrats to Susan and Michael!

The Fairmont Gold Room - Angela and Casey

Oh how I love The Fairmont in San Francisco and I was more than thrilled to finally photograph a wedding reception in the Gold Room. I love that classic gorgeous ballroom and had only photographed a corporate event in the room in the past.

Angela and Casey had a jam-packed wedding day starting at the Fairmont getting ready and then we all got on the road to the east bay for the ceremony. On the way we got trapped by a China town parade until father-of-the-bride convinced the SF police to hold up the parade so we could get to the church in time! So funny in retrospect, but a little nerve wracking day of!

I love the big Greek Orthodox cathedrals and weddings. So gorgeous and full of tradition. Angela and Casey tied the knot in a classic Greek Orthodox Ceremony at the Ascension Cathedral in Oakland and then we all got back into the city for the cocktail hour in the Fountain Room at The Fairmont and then dinner in the gold room.

Angela stunned all in her Monique Lhuillier gown. I kept thinking while I photographed her that she looked like Audrey Hepburn. Lucky me as a photographer! The florals by Katherine Bergman were classic and beautiful and I loved how they added to the gorgeousness of the Gold Room. Jessica Goldblatt with Dreams on a Dime did a great job coordinating the day, even racing from The Fairmont to Oakland to bring the bride's veil which had been forgotten at the hotel. Now THAT is above and beyond and it was just in time!

The party was raging when I left and given the Fairmont's generous rental hours, I believe the party went until midnight with some great Greek dancing traditions and fun music by a DJ for some more contemporary dancing. What a fun day for all! Congrats to Angela and Casey!

The Flood Mansion - Emily and Collin!

It's been a while since I photographed a wedding at The Flood Mansion in San Francisco. Yowsa - it's still one of my favorite locations in the entire bay area and it was the perfect sophisticated and elegant venue for a sophisticated and elegant couple.

After a fairy tale first look at the Lyon Steps, a trolley dropped off the bridal party and immediate family for a super fun photo session. Nobody seemed to mind too much that I made everyone traipse up and down the many flights of stairs because the trolley couldn't drop us off JUST where I wanted to photograph everyone. Many thanks to everyone for doing that for the picky photographer! It DID provide some really fun shots of our bride getting her workout in for the day!

Emily and Collin said their vows in the courtyard at Flood mansion flanked by a couple of gorgeous floral arrangements by Lynda Quiros of Elle Que Designs . Oh it was so elegant and glamorous and Emily looked like Grace Kelly come back to life in her incredible gown by Jinza Bridal. The hair and makeup team of Amy Hsueh and Laura Yamasaki, couldn't have done a better job with Emily's elegant look and I had a glorious time photographing this stunning bride. Collin was incredibly dapper too in his Hugo Boss tux and Tom Ford Bow Tie. I loved some of the pre-ceremony shots I got while he and his groomsmen waited for the ceremony to start.

As if all of that wasn't enough gorgeousness, the party started and the dining room looked so stunning! Caroline Bottoms made sure everything looked perfect. Global Gourmet provided not only that gorgeous bridal party tablecloth but also this gorgeous and delicious food. All set within the elegant rooms of the Flood Mansion with views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, how could this NOT be one of my favorite locations in the bay area! I always feel honored when I photograph a wedding in this gorgeous space.

Thank you, Emily and Collin and congratulations!

San Francisco Ferry Building Wedding - Tina and Spencer

When Tina and Spencer and I photographed their e-shoot, I knew I would LOVE photographing their wedding too. Such a sweet and in love couple!

Amy Nichols of Amy Nichols Special Events always does a stunning job of event design and coordination and this was no exception! We've worked at the Ferry Building together before and I knew how stunning it could be, but Amy once again blew my socks off with the lovely navy blue and white theme which was so suited to this waterfront location. The florals by La Fleuriste were simple and elegant and of course the food by Paula Le Duc Fine Catering and team was incredibly good. I loved that they served lamb chops for dinner. How much more elegant can you get!

Tina and Spencer were just as in love and glowing on their wedding as day as at their e-session. We had a blast walking from our first look at The Four Seasons over to Yerba Buena Gardens for our photo shoot and even though the gardens were crowded on a Saturday, we managed to make it look like we were the only ones around. Then off to the Ferry Building for such a lovely ceremony and after that fabulous dinner, a kick-butt dance party with band Pop Fiction.

Tina and Spencer, congrats. I'm so fortunate that I have such sweet couples!

Holy Name Cathedral and The Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Chicago - Cara and Albert

Every once in a while I get the chance to photograph a wedding near my home town in Chicago. Cara, Albert and I were a perfect fit given that we all live in the bay area, so we were able to do an engagement session here and since Cara and I grew up in the Chicago area so I was able to go and see my family and photograph their wedding in Chicago! Lucky me!

What a fabulous and classic city style wedding! Cara was absolutely spectacular in her Rivini Couture "Sabina" ball gown and long gorgeous veil. I knew from our e-session she would be such fun to photograph and despite cold weather, wind and drizzle she was fabulous in front of the camera! Albert was the perfect groom having just as much fun and indulging his bride and it's obvious in the pictures what fun they have together as a couple.

Their ceremony at Holy Name Cathedral was so gorgeous set under the glorious wood carved ceiling and the reception at the Waldorf sparkled in intimate city splendor with florals by Kehoe Designs. I LOVED how gorgeous that cake was and just HAD to turn it around on it's table to get the sparkle of candlelight behind it (something I would never normally do for a photograph!). As the night went on it went from elegant and candlelit to one heck of a party with Style Matters DJs spinning, champagne and cocktails and dancing into the wee hours. It was amazing the family was able to get up in the morning to go to the traditional Korean Tea ceremony! I LOVE photographing Korean tea ceremonies, but especially the bride dressing. The costumes are truly works of art.

Loved Cara and Albert and had such fun photographing their wedding. Congratulations!

Penthouse Suite Wedding, Fairmont San Francisco - Allyn and Andrew

I love, love, love getting to go up that nondescript elevator off of the main lobby of the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, Whoosh up you go to the spectacular Julia Morgan designed penthouse suite at the top of the original hotel building. Have I mentioned a million times how much fun it is sometime to be a wedding photographer and to get to go into these incredible places? This suite is spectacular with a two story round library room, a billiard room with floor to ceiling moroccan tile, a living room, three bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen and a dining room that can seat up to 60 for a formal dinner. Oh, and the lovely terrace with views of the Trans America tower and SF bay? Truly one of my favorite places in San Francisco!

OK! I can't forget about my bride and groom with the impeccable taste who had their intimate wedding here! Allyn dressed in her gorgeous Amy Kuschel gown in the master bedroom of the suite, they married on the terrace surrounded by their closest family and friends and took full advantage of that dining room seating all of their guests for an incredible formal multi-course meal prepared by the fabulous chefs of the Fairmont. Irish coffee, billiards and dancing followed along with lots of photos on the terrace as the sun set and the SF skyline lights went up. What a gorgeous and intimate wedding with understated elegance (not overpowering the rooms) designed by Marisa Canoles of Rebecca Reategui Weddings and Special Events and florals by Katherine of Cherries Flowers. Allyn and Andrew couldn't have been a sweeter couple and seemed to have the time of their lives surrounded by those they love in such an intimate and special setting. Hands-down one of my favorite SF wedding locations for a small wedding! Congratulations to Allyn and Andrew!

JW Marriott Union Square, San Francisco Wedding - Michael and Judith

Happy to finally share this joyful wedding of Michael and Judith! This was a destination wedding and Michael and Judith wanted to be in the heart of San Francisco with all of their family and friends. A world away from their home in Florida made for a very special weekend!

I loved shooting at the JW Marriott right off of Union Square. The service there is incredible and it's so centrally located! Michael and Judith planned a really nicely paced day planning for a first look early enough that we could go to the Palace of Fine Arts and Crissy Field for a photo shoot. We had a blast and plenty of time for both locations and they even got back to the hotel early enough for "rest" time with family and friends in their lovely suite before the main festivities began. Judith had her hair and makeup team Michael Page Style Lab on hand to refresh her look in between the portrait session and ceremony and looked so lovely at both!

Family and friend focussed, the wedding and reception were relaxed and full of great food and lots of time for everyone to visit, eat, drink and then dance the night away to a DJ from Joel Nelson Productions!

Congratulations Michael and Judith!

The Exploratorium, San Francisco Wedding - Maddy and Matt

What a cool wedding venue! I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about the new San Francisco Exploratorium as a wedding venue, but when a couple of science fanatics (Maddy and Matt!) and one of my fave coordinators (Elizabeth Bainbridge of 2 the 9s Events) contacted me about this wedding I was intrigued. I ended up loving this venue! The views of San Francisco Bay are stunning, the staff is super nice and helpful and the outdoor deck for cocktail hour was a huge treat for guests. Plus everyone got to play a little and learn a bit about science while there!

Maddy and Matt were so low key and fun on their wedding day and I loved that Elizabeth Bainbridge helped them choose Angella Floral Arts for the terrific florals that fit right in. I loved the use of science beakers, books and terrariums! The food stations by caterer Betty Zlatchin Catering were really lovely and festive. It was such an easy going-wedding all around and in a fabulous setting. Congrats to Maddy and Matt!

The Grove and Union Hotel Occidental - Karena and Jason

Another cozy wedding! LOVED this reception location set in the Bocce ballroom at the historic Union Hotel in Occidental. Karena and Jason added a special touch by having youth in the Eden Area Regional Occupational Program  help them with their gorgeous florals and added some DIY aspects with the hand stamped wooden tags wrapped around the napkins at each place setting.

Because of their love for the outdoors, Karena and Jason set their ceremony in the redwoods at The Grove nearby. They decided to utilize the setting by also have the cocktail reception set in the redwoods immediately following the ceremony. After a big group photo on the pavilion stage everyone loaded up and went over to the cozy hotel for dinner. What a wonderfully relaxed family and friend focussed wedding. Congrats to Karena and Jason!

Terra SF Wedding - Sara and Eric!

Yowsa! This wedding was all about the details! What a gorgeous urban wedding set in the stunning event space, Terra SF. Emily of Downey Street Events and her team knocked themselves out making this such an incredibly stunning wedding. I was more than thrilled to photograph such a gorgeous space and beautiful details. Always a treat to photograph florals by Sharla Flock and the food by Global Gourmet was simply gorgeous.

OK. But not only was it a stunning wedding, Sara and Eric are such a sweet couple! Sara's daughter Lola almost stole the show with her coy glances at the camera and guests and her sweet dress and head wreathed with flowers put her over the top! BUT, she couldn't have stole the show with a bride in that gorgeous blush pink Monique Lhuiller bridal gown. Eric's face was priceless when he saw Sara at their first look.

Sara and Eric, family and friends alike all had a great time and the multi-course dinner and long cocktail hour allowed for a lingering time for conversation and shared joy. What a stunning wedding! Congratulations to Sara and Eric!

The Lodge at the Regency Center - San Francisco Wedding of Thalia and Ian

Oh what style and grace! Loved this classic San Francisco wedding. In Thalia's previous career she was a set designer and she let her previous work shine at her wedding. Thalia and Ian are both now firefighters and I have to say, Thalia may be the most good-looking firefighter ever! She was also one of my most stunning brides ever in her classic lace, mermaid Maggie Sottero gown! I thought her look was perfect for the venue and style of the wedding.

Alex and the team from Dreams on a Dime Weddings worked with Thalia and The Regency Center to create the perfect setting for this classic wedding in one of my favorite rooms in the city. The Lodge at the Regency Center is the top floor venue at the Regency Center and was originally a Mason's lodge! The Regency Center has kept all of the old stage backdrops and they let each couple choose their own backdrop for their wedding. I LOVE the backdrop Thalia and Ian chose. It worked so well with the gorgeous florals by Carol Antraccoli.

Congratulations, Thalia and Ian!

Hotel Vitale San Francisco Wedding - Damon and Eunmin

What a lovely wedding and an even lovelier couple! I was so happy when a former bride of mine, Lauren Wakefield, who is also a planner extraordinaire contacted me on behalf of her clients for this intimate November wedding at the Hotel Vitale in San Francisco. With only sixty guests and a sunset ceremony scheduled to take place on one of the many terraces at Vitale I knew we were in for a treat.

Not only was the setting gorgeous and lush florals, by Natalie Bowen Designs, in soft pinks beautiful to photograph, I was more than thrilled that the rain cleared in time and Eunmin and Damon were game for a super fun and extended portrait session out on the Embarcadero before the ceremony. We had a blast and I loved that the colorful streetcars seemed to be waiting just for us!

The ceremony couldn't have been more magical as the sun set over the bay and then the outdoor family portrait session and cocktail hour had the added treat of the city and bay bridge lights coming up. Then we all got cozy in one of the intimate rooms for the dinner and dancing. Such a lovely little wedding and thank you Eunmin and Damon for being so enamored with each other! Everyone made my job super easy that day!

The Firehouse at Fort Mason + Chinese Banquet = Stacey and David

Such a sweet couple and such a DIY couple! Also super talented with a LOT of energy. David and Stacey had a marathon day starting with a tea ceremony in Sacramento in the morning and ending with a traditional Chinese banquet at the Far East Cafe in San Francisco's Chinatown. It's been a while since I photographed a Chinese Banquet! I forgot how fun it is to watch course after course come out while the Lion Dances and entertainment go on!

In the middle of the day was their sweet ceremony at The Firehouse at Fort Mason. It was a gorgeous day and views of the bay were clear and sunny. Friends and family gathered for the traditional American ceremony and Stacey stunned all in her appropriately blowy handmade gown. Not just handmade, but handmade BY STACEY! Gorgeous! This couple had so much of their heart and souls in this wedding starting with Stacey's handmade gown of her own design, their travel themed invitations and reception decor (they love to travel!) and David even made the wedding cake himself. These two are definitely talented. Oh and did I mention, they are also an adorable couple and managed throughout it all to have genuine fun with me and their guests. I'm impressed and will forever remember this darling couple. Congrats to David and Stacey!
